COVID-19

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Although we’re still only seeing patients with emergency eye care issues, we would like to remind everyone about our telemedicine option for non-urgent questions or concerns. To schedule a virtual appointment, call our office at 607-200-3221.

If you do have an emergency, we ask that you please call us first before coming into the office.

As of now, we do not have a set date for reopening, however, we have been developing our office guidelines to ensure we keep our patients and staff safe once we do reopen.

Our Plan for Reopening:

When making an appointment, our receptionist will begin a screening to ask for some additional information. We’ll ask if you have a face mask you can wear to the appointment. If you do not, we will bring one out to you when you arrive.

Temperatures of all staff and patients will be taken upon arrival. We use a temporal thermometer on the forehead which is thoroughly sterilized after every use. For any patient with an elevated temperature (100.00F), we kindly ask that you reschedule your appointment. Any staff member with an elevated temperature (100.00F) will be required to stay home.

We ask patients to arrive at their appointments 10 minutes early. This gives us time to provide proper protection and manage proper distancing. Patients with mobile phones will be given the option to wait in their car instead of our waiting room. Each patient will receive a text message or phone call when we are ready for you. Seating in the waiting room will maintain a minimum distance of six feet apart. To limit the number of people in the office, we ask each patient to come alone if possible. To minimize in-person interaction, upon arrival, the front desk will briefly verify that patients are not experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms.

Due to how close the doctor will need to be in some cases, the doctor will speak as little as possible during the slit lamp exams and other appointments that involve close proximity. We ask that patients refrain from speaking also.

Health and Sanitation Measures:

Face masks will be worn by staff and patients. For patients that would like them, we will provide personal protection kits that contain:

  • Disposable mask
  • Gloves
  • Tissues
  • Wipes
  • Shoe coverings

We will be performing sanitation of equipment, instruments, exam rooms, waiting room, as well as the check-in and check-out areas with increased frequency.

We thank you for your help in reducing the spread of the virus within our office! It is a true privilege and honor to care for our community. If you have any questions regarding your upcoming appointment, please call the office at 607-200-3221.

Sincerely,
Dr. Daniel Sambursky and Team
